THE Two Wells Poll Dorset stud ran by the Hart family was backed with strong support from volume buyers.
Of the 107 rams offered, 84 sold to a top of $5000 and a $1408 average - the sales result was back on last years result by $394.
The top price ram was lot 2, an April 2021-drop ram with a 16.0 post weaning weight, a -1.2 fat, 0.5 eye muscle depth, and a terminal carcase production index of 132.6.
The McInnes Family Trust, Keith, picked up the $5000 ram tagged 69 with their agent PPHS Naracoorte managing director Robin Steen in attendance bidding on the ram.
Mr Steen said they wanted a ram which suited their Poll Dorset stud operation.
"It's a nice long, thick, meaty sheep that'll go into their program and do a good job," he said.
"That's five rams at the other end so he's not that dear for the quality of the sheep."
The McInnes Family Trust had previously bought a ram from Glen Devon two years prior.
Mr Steen also bought the second highest ram - Lot 1 - at $4000 for Lines Family Trust after they saw it at the Royal Adelaide Show.
Glen Devon stud principal Lachlan Hart, Two Wells, said the sale was solid and the stud sale was strong.
"Lot 2 was a good solid sheep with a good hindquarter and good bone," he said.
"We appreciate the McInnes family's support and hope the ram does well for their operation."
Mr Hart said they were going to keep an eye on upcoming sales.
"We are always continuing to look at ways to improve what we have got," he said.
He said he was appreciative of their volume buyers.
"The DiGorgio's have been loyal supporters since we've been having ram sales," he said.
"The Victorian Mallee area have also been a very strong support for our Poll Dorset breeding program for a long time.
"It's great to see them back after border closures the past two years.
"We appreciate people supporting our breeding program and look forward to continuing to service them into the future."
