It’s that time of year again when residents of Australia's eastern states will need to put their clocks forward one hour, with daylight saving time to start 2am Sunday, October 6. While some will lament the loss of an hour's sleep, others will relish the chance to soak up a bit more sun after work. Many Fairfax Regional Media staff fall into the former category - here's a few things they could have done with an extra hour in the morning: Leave a comment below and tell us what you'd do with an extra hour. And if you're looking for something to occupy that extra hour of sunshine (or a few minutes, at least), take a look at our interactive history of daylight saving time. Firefighters are also reminding Australians to take a moment to change the batteries in their smoke alarms this Sunday. Touch here to view the interactive feature if you are using a mobile phone.
