There was no shortage of rain in March 1983, keeping farmers happy - except for in the Lower North, where excessive rain caused flooding that swept fences away.
Many areas were still reeling from the Ash Wednesday bushfires the previous month, with the clean-up job in full swing.
And much like still is in 2020, the month of March in 1983 was a key time for inspecting Merino rams from Mid North studs. Plenty of stud principals opened their farm gates and welcomed visitors, with plenty of clients eager to check out future sale rams.
