PRICES jumped significantly at the Strathalbyn feature cattle sale on Friday, with lighter steers selling to $4.50 a kilogram, compared with a $3.33/kg top at the previous Strathalbyn sale.
Nutrien Strathalbyn's Bradley Walker said there was a sense of "bidding urgency" across the entire sale.
"Lighter steers always sell well, but it was pleasing to see from start to finish, the heifers, the heavier steers, there really was plenty of interest on each pen," he said.
Elders Strathalbyn's Danny Reynolds said improved conditions in SA contributed to the sale's success.
"It was a very strong sale which was a mirror image of what is happening across the country in wake of the recent rains," he said.
