Fracturing an ankle while skiing on the river and showing off for a special lady on Boxing Day in 2020 paid off for Zach Sims, Clare, who married Caitlin (nee Dearman).
The pair were married on April 20 on Zach's family property in Clare.
They had their first date at Sushi Train in Tea Tree Plaza before heading to TunzaFun after an xray at Modbury.
Caitlin Sims said she knew from the word go that Zach was the one.
"After hearing from friends, how good of a guy he was and just seeing his gentle and caring side, I knew," she said.
"We met through a mutual friend at the river.
"He was doing a slalom ski on the back of the boat and injured himself quite badly."
But chasing adrenaline sports herself as a snowboarder and previously living in Canada, she said the stunt did the job.
"In August last year we went to New Zealand for a ski holiday," she said.
"He was skiing and I was snowboarding at the Remarkables - one of the ski resorts over there.
"He found a spot on top of the hill that was overlooking down into Queenstown and dropped the knee up there."
The pair had their wedding on Zach's family property and incorporated the Clare Quarry Kenworth T909 trucks as their wedding vehicles.
"Zach's parents own and operate the Clare Quarry business," she said.
"We had a pretty laid back country wedding in a paddock and had some photos with our Blue Healer who will be four next month and Jenny Stanley was our celebrant from Port Pirie."
She said she had many personal touches throughout the wedding including a knife Zach's dad made for them to cut their cake with.
"My cousin, when he got married a few years ago, made their own pallet furniture from recycled pallets into bar tables and stools so we used those too and used a pallet for table names too," she said.
"Our esky at the wedding was an old loader bucket which we filled with drinks and ice."
She wore a Maddi Lane designed dress and said she knew it was the dress when she walked out of the change room and her mum burst into tears.
"That made me cry, obviously," she said.
Caitlin said her mum was originally from Snowtown and her nan grew up in Clare as well.
"So it's a bit of a full circle, but Zach is a Clare local and has been here his whole life," she said.
