Organisers of the Royal Adelaide Show's grains and fodder competition are warning the competition may become only an exhibit without more grower support.
Entries have opened and chairman of the Show Committee Peter Smith is encouraging grain and hay growers to display to the agricultural community and the public their high quality produce.
"We know that it is not a high priority for growers to exhibit, however without grower support the competition may go the same way as many other states and become only an exhibit," he said.
"If growers have a good sample of grain or hay, we urge them to get their entries in and become another exhibitor of top quality South Australian produce."
Entries can be made by collecting 3 kilogram samples of grain or 10kg samples of fodder and delivering to either the Adelaide Showground or one of seven delivery points across the state.
They include Limestone Seeds, Keith, Ag Fert, Balaklava, Lincoln Rural, Port Lincoln and Cummins, Roseworthy Rural, AW Vater, Kadina, and Lithgow Enterprises, Tailem Bend.
Entries close on Friday, June 21.
"I wish to thank the businesses for making it easy for growers to deliver their sample for the Adelaide Show," Mr Smith said.
"It acknowledges the importance of grains and fodder in this state the value they put on these commodities."
Pulses will be the feature grain of the 2024 show, but growers are urged to enter in all classes to ensure all grain and fodder types are well represented.
As well as the competition, junior grain and fodder classes, as well as a junior judging competition, will be held.
