SA Police is investigating after a car collided with the Ghan in the Mid North on Wednesday afternoon.
About 3.15pm on Wednesday, April 17, emergency services were called to a level crossing near Baroota, at Park Road, east of the Augusta Highway, after a Mazda 3 crashed into the Ghan.
The vehicle had been travelling east, while the Ghan was northbound, with the collision causing the Mazda to roll.
The driver and passenger in the Mazda, both 17-year-old boys from Port Augusta, sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
The train came to a stop a short distance away, with no injuries to the drivers or passengers.
The train was able to continue north after swapping to another locomotive while the Mazda was towed from the scene.
SAPOL is also investigating a single vehicle crash at Pelican Lagoon on Kangaroo Island on Thursday morning.
At 4.14am, Thursday April 18, a passing motorist discovered the incident on Hog Bay Road, where a ute had left the road and hit a tree.
The driver and only occupant of the ute, a 69-year-old Dudley West man, sustained serious injuries has was taken to the local hospital before being airlifted to the mainland for treatment.
Hog Bay Road has been reopened to traffic.
