Along with the usual fare of Mount Gambier, Naracoorte and Strathalbyn store cattle markets, Mount Pleasant sheep and cattle and Jamestown sheep, there was an additional Mount Pleasant weaners and breeders cattle sale and a Pinnaroo lamb sale.
While still above the lows of 2023, the start to the 2024 livestock markets have been varied, with some commentators describing it as a see-saw.
During March, the Eastern Young Cattle Indicator lost 10 per cent in the space of a fortnight, which has been put down to an overhang of heavy supply combined with processors exiting the market briefly ahead of short Easter kill weeks.

Sheep have also been impacted by the Easter weeks, with supply dropping.
