THE powerhouse that is the Australian table grape industry has posted some impressive figures in the latest Australian Horticulture Statistics Handbook for 2022/23.

Collected figures show total production was worth $918 million for the 232,962 tonnes produced.
The gem within the table grape crown is its export line.
Fresh exports were worth $557.3m in the past financial year for the 132,316t sent overseas.
The main customers for those exports were China (47,234t), Indonesia (22,544t), Vietnam (13,202t), Philippines (8539t) and Thailand (7343t).
Exports to "other" areas were not to be ignored either, accounting for a collaborated 33,454t.
That fresh export value is a leap of 27pc on the previous year, and a 22pc increase on volume.
Figures on the domestic front were also positive.

The retail supply volume lifted by 13pc and its wholesale value went up 26pc to be worth $549m.
The amount going into the food service sector dropped by 8pc, however the food service wholesale value kicked up 3pc to be worth $17.8m.
The handbook, put out by Hort Innovation in association with Freshlogic, said 59pc of Australian households purchased table grapes, buying an average of 844g per shopping trip.
Average per capita consumption sat at 4.15kg.
Victoria is the largest table grape producing state by far, accounting for 78pc of total production.
New South Wales comes in second with 10pc, followed by Queensland with 5pc, South Australia with 4pc, Western Australia with 3pc and the Northern Territory with less than 1pc.
Australia has 25,000 hectares under table grape production.
