The Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Regulations Pastoralist Workshop attracted pastoralists to Pt Augusta on Tuesday this week, to discuss the ins and outs of the draft regulations for the Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Act.
The state government held the event to offer pastoral communities an opportunity to share insights and provide feedback on the draft Act.
The consultation event also provided an opportunity for Livestock SA chief executive officer Travis Tobin to share his thoughts and concerns about the draft regulations, while multiple state government representatives outlined the proposed regulations.
The regulations are designed to facilitate and regulate hydrogen and renewable energy development in SA and its coastal waters.
The HRE Act aims to ensure authorised operations have as little negative impact on pastoral communities and the environment, as well as eliminate long-term environmental damage and ensure adequate land rehabilitation after projects commence.
Speakers covered information on release areas, general licensing, reporting obligations and notice of entry requirements.
