Growers from across the Adelaide Plains and further afield attended the SA Durum Growers' Association forum at Balaklava on Wednesday.
A run of speakers shared trial results and best practice tips for durum growers, while global market insight was also offered.
The event was led by SADGA vice chairman and graingrower Paul Jarrett, who shared his optimistic view on durum production in SA.
"Durum can be a challenging crop to grow but the reward is there when it goes right," he said.
He also encouraged new people to get involved in SADGA.
"We have a few places available on he committee for those interested. No one should be afraid to put their hand up if they want to get involved."
Among the speakers was keynote speaker, AGT plant breeder Tom Kapcejevs, while Viterra SA accumulation manager Ben Harfield and SARDI research scientist Andrew Harding provided insight into global markets for durum and soil pH and nutrition.
Stock Journal's VANESSA BINKS went along.
