A first time client took home the top bull at Allendale this week, catalogued mid way through the sale.
Held on-property at Bordertown on Tuesday, the Angus bull sale had 32 lots on offer, with 31 selling to an average of $9741.
Knocked down for a whopping $30,000 was Lot 11, Allendale Quebec T311 which sold to Heath Nickolls, Bull Oak Well, Pinnaroo, in his first appearance at the sale.
Sired by Booroomooka Quebec and out of an Allendale Joy cow, the bull had estimated breeding values of +2.7 for birth weight, +59 for 200 day weight, +111 for 400 day weight and +146 for 600 day weight.
The June 2022-drop bull also had scores of +2.8 for rib fat, +5 for eye muscle area and +3 for rump fat.
Stud principal Alastair Day said the bull had a good balance of physical traits in addition to strong EBVs.
"He's very structurally correct with a good quality about him," he said.
"He's got plenty of meat and a ripping pedigree to match.
"A great bull and going to a great home at Bull Oak Well with the opportunity to breed lots of good bulls for the Nickolls family."
Mr Nickolls said the bull was personally recommended to him by Mr Day.
"I went out in the paddock with Alastair to see him before the sale because I've got a lot of confidence in what he's breeding," he said.
"He's got good data including really good growth and positive fat so we've got a place for him with our stud heifers.
"We had a great sale result this week so we wanted to invest back into our stud in something that's going do well for us."
The sale's volume buyer on the day was Ian Johnson, Amherst Livestock, Willalooka, who purchased five bulls to a top of $10,000 and an average of $8000.
Spence Dix & Co were duty agents on the day, with auctioneer Jono Spence at the rostrum.
