Three cattle studs throughout the Mid North region have opened their gates to display their bred progeny and bloodlines for the four-day Beef Week event, which kicked off today.
Ballyvaughan, Boconnoc Park, Redwood Range Speckle Park, Auburn, and Maryvale, Allendale North, joined in on the action.
Ballyvaughan stud principal Katrina Sanders said it was the busiest they had been in years and described the event as "excellent".
"We've already sold a number of bulls, we've sold five bulls and we've sold a couple of heifers," she said.
"We've also sold all our commercial heifers line that we had for sale prior to the field day.
"But we do still have some quality bulls available."
Further South, Redwood Range Speckle Park stud principal Mick Lines said there was an increased confidence in the cattle market after the last couple of sales.
"I think it's where it needs to be now to make money for both of us and also the other side as well, the feedlotters," he said.
Redwood Range has sold some bulls and had more on offer through private selection.
But at Maryvale stud principals Matt and Tess Vogt utilised the event as an inspection for their upcoming sale on Thursday.
"We have had a steady number of people come through the gates throughout the day," Ms Vogt said.
"There was probably more people interested than we expected," Mr Vogt said.
Sunday will feature the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu Peninsula and Riverland, while Day Three will have studs from across the Lower South East opening their gates, and the Upper South East will finish the event on Day Four.
