Ryeview sire Hallelujah Toby has produced the winning champion Ryeland ram and ewe at this years Royal Adelaide Show Ryeland competition.
Leahcim's Andrew Michael, Snowtown, was the judge of the Ryeland competition and said the champion ram exhibit was a great example of the breed.
"In his carcase and meat traits, which are the most important part with the Ryeland, he ticks all the boxes," he said.
"He has got a really long loin and meat in all the right places.
"He's very natural, not overfed, hasn't had his feet trimmed - what you see is what you get."
The shorn, under 1.5 years ram was an August-drop and weighed 69.5 kilograms with 5 millimetres for fat and 35mm eye muscle depth.
Mr Michael named the shorn ewe under 1.5 years as the the champion ewe, saying was also a great example of the breed but the champion and reserve champion ewes presented were very similar.
"I have given it to the younger sheep as I think we have always got to find the future in our breeds," he said.
"This ewe really does match where I think the champion Ryeland ram is.
"It wouldn't surprise me if the champion ewe and the champion ram were by the same sire as structurally they are basically the same."
The ewe was also an August-drop and had weighed 65.5kg with 6mm for fat and 36mm EMD.
Ryeview, Millicent, had seven entries across the Ryeland competition and stud principal Michael Osborne said it was the champion ewe and ram's first outing in a show.
"They both have the scale and loin and both have the nice open outlook of their face," he said.
"The ram will be shown at the country shows and then possibly - depending on what our stud team is doing - he will more than likely come into play in our breeding program."
He said they had other breeds also in the Royal Adelaide Show competition and were looking forward to their on-property sale.
"We have our White Suffolk and Border Leicester sale on October 16," he said.
