Braving the chilly weather was about 50 Mid North farmers who attended the Upper North Farming Systems soils conference at Jamestown on Wednesday.
A jam packed program was on offer with key note speaker Andrew Polkinghorne delivering his words of wisdom on a lifetime of soil management practices.
Also on stage was Mark Thomas, Rodrigo da Silva, and Therese McBeath all of CSIRO who presented on soil nutrition, strengthening sandy soils and the difference in farming from Brazil to Australia.

Elders Jamestown agronomist Beth Humphris said the event was funded by the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board as part of an UNFS funded project with sponsors of Omnia and Viterra.
"The event would not have been able to happen without their support," she said.
She delivered trail results across three sites, while Evan's Consulting owner Margaret Evans presented on soil borne diseases.
