Winners have been announced for a competition aimed at instilling a farm safe message in the next generation.
The Colour Between the Lines colouring-in competition was designed to encourage eight to 14-year-old to think more broadly about the practices that keep farmers, friends and families in rural communities healthy and safe.
It was a partnership between Syngenta ANZ and #PlantASeedForSafety with the colouring in page printed in Stock Journal and its sister publication The Land in NSW in June, to mark Farm Safety Week.
As National Safe Work Month comes to a close, the winners have been named.
First prize went to 10-year-old Caitlin Schutz, Eudunda, with 11-year-old Bhavyaa Nayyer, Macquarie Park, NSW, second and Sienna Michael (10), Carriewerloo Station, in third.
Among the honourable mentions were Tessa Sonntag (11), Younghusband, Alice Apps (8), Boorowa, NSW, and Angus Farley (10), Kybybolite.
SA Syngenta's managing director and ANZ country head Paul Luxton said the outstanding competition submissions highlighted that young people across the spectrum of rural life are well-versed in farm safety practices, including the safe storage of agricultural chemicals in locked, well-ventilated areas.
"Safe Work Month is an important reminder to start a conversation that puts health and safety front of mind, and the colouring-in competition takes this even further by proactively promoting a strong sense of safety in the next generation of farmers, agribusiness workers and rural communities at large," he said.

#PlantASeedForSafety founder Alex Thomas said she was impressed by not only the sheer talent and dexterity of each entry, but the mature and well-considered messages that highlighted the importance of health and safety.
"We wanted to gamify what good health and safety looks like in the context of rural communities and engage young members of our communities in an effort to bring that conversation to life at the kitchen tables of rural households all over Australia," she said.
"After reading the thought-provoking perspectives of each entry, I'm increasingly confident in the value that our young people place on the importance of health and safety, their overall sense of risk awareness and their appetite for starting conversations that bring their loved ones home at the end of each day."
