People say talking about the weather can be a pretty - excuse the pun - dry topic.
But those people obviously don't have their lives influenced by weather to the degree that those working in agriculture do.
Timely rain is not just a matter of a few extra dollars here or there.
It can make or break a season - which has an impact, not just on the business but everyone who works on that business. It impacts families and whole businesses.
Much of SA has had a pretty positive season, but there have been patches that have been left out.
It's great news that the Mid North has caught up on the rain, literally "season savers", while there is also positive reports coming from the Mallee and Riverland.

One example of the extended impact of weather is the impact of dry times at ram sales, with pastoral buyers moving away. And we've definitely seen the impact that rain has had, bringing those buyers back.
Speaking of ram sales, there have been some phenomenal results in recent weeks - including the spectacle of 600 rams selling in one day at Hallett.

While great ram sale results are a good sign for those businesses that have invested in their genetics to supply their clients, it's also a positive signal of the overarching confidence in the industry.
