ENTERING the competition at the edge of the ring as the animals had started parading was Angus Fraser, Dingee, Vic, who took out the senior and overall competition on Tuesday night.
Mr Fraser was not from a dairy or farming family but had moved to Vic from Far North Qld, 12 months ago to pursue a career on a dairy farm.
"I have not handled in a class quite as strong as this one today," he said.
"I have done a couple of classes a dairy week and in this show in previous years.
"I have won my age class here three or four years ago and it was pretty cool to come back and do it again.
"I came second at international dairy week."
Mr Fraser said he was very happy to be competing against some "very impressive leaders".
Judge Steve Joyce, Tongala, Vic, said Mr Fraser and his heifer were a synchronised pair.
"He did the most things right," he said.
"His animal was balanced at all stages and he had a faultless run.
"The heifer was cool, calm and collected like he was and he always had his eyes on me, concentrating.
