MORLEY experienced a jump in top price and average at its annual sale at Cleve on Friday.
For the second year, Morley had full clearance of all 60 Poll Merinos to a top of $4600 and an average $2065 - a $160 increase on their 2021 sale.
The top price ram, Lot 11, a 116 kilogram Gunallo 463 son with a 17.4 micron, 100 per cent comfort factor and 127pc clean fleece rate, was bought by Mad Rabbit Agriculture, Lock.
Amy Kerley, Mad Rabbit Agriculture, said she was very happy with their new "big barrelled ram", which had some stand out characteristics.
"His micron was good, it was sort of a bit below what we were looking for, so that was a bonus and he just stood really big and proud," she said.
She said they had clear objectives they target when breeding their sheep.

"Early maturing, really good meat traits with an abundance of quality wool," she said.
"Our average micron is around about 18.5, but we do get down into the 15 and 16s."
Morley stud principal Leonie Mills was positive on the performance of the sale, with some star performers in the line up.
"We had two new families that were on offer for the first time this year that sold extremely well and we had a good representation of the Gunallo 463 sons," she said.
The sale's volume buyers were Glenowen Pastoral, Cleve, with eight; Mad Rabbit Ag bought seven; while MP&RL Deer, Arunga Investments, Cleve, and ADS&JLS Major, Kimba, each bought five.
The sale was run by Elders, with auctioneer Tony Wetherall pleased with the performance of the sale.
"The line-up was very good and very good dual purpose Poll Merino rams, they averaged about 100kg for young rams and that's exceptional," he said.
