AFTER a two-year hiatus due to COVID restrictions, the SA No-Till Farmers Association annual conference returned this week, with a strong turn out from about 60 croppers and relevant stakeholders.
This year's conference delved into the dynamic relationship between soil nutrition and carbon, asking questions such as will soil organic carbon levels diminish if we remove more nutrients than we return? Is it viable or even possible to fertiliser to maintain or increase SOC? and is SOC a indicator of soil health and resilience?
Nitrogen bank strategies, targeted trace element application and what the wider environment is signalling to us about our plant and soil health were other topics covered on the day.
