THERE was fierce bidding with over 40 people present at Mulloorie's Tintinara on-property sale yesterday with those from Victoria present after two years of border restrictions.
Overall the stud sold 35 Poll Merinos of the 36 offered to a top of $7800 and an average of $2560, beating all last years figures.
This included smashing the top price by $2000 creating an on-property record.
The top price ram was 105-kilogram January 2021-drop lot 3 and was knocked down to Alan and Mandy Lintern, AMP Farms Trust, Tungkillo.
The P1327 ram was a son of Boss, with a 20 micron, 3.0 standard deviation, 14.8 coefficient of variation and a 99.5 per cent comfort factor.
Mr Lintern said he wanted the lot three ram as it had a white bright great staple.
"It had a great crimp and EMD and fat was up there," he said.
"We are really happy with the ram.
"We have been to every South East sale and we are happy with the job the Mulloorie rams do on our commercial flock."

Mr Lintern said the majority of his ewe flock were Bunyara or Mulloorie bloodlines.
"This new ram will go out on a mob of ewes on his own," he said.
"All the rams in the shed lined up really well and were strong right through."
Nutrien stud stock and auctioneer Richard Miller said lot 3 was a standout ram.
"I would have thought he would have been an Adelaide (Ram Sale) ram," he said.
"It is the pinnacle of what they are doing here with beautiful crisp, bright white wool on it with a big carcase they are renown for."
Mulloorie stud principal Brett Meyer, Tintinara, said he was very happy with the sale results.
"We had a few new clients and a lot of return clients," he said.
"Our average was similar to last years - we are very happy with our top too.
"It's an on-property record for us but we don't want to be blowing our average out too much."
He said the rams right through the line-up were all pretty even.
"People keep coming back for our rams because they are predictable sheep so we don't want to change anything," he said.
"The top ram stands well on its feet with a nice white lustrous wool on it and he will breed on well wherever he goes.
"He created a fair bit of attention at Keith on Wednesday last week."
Volume buyer Berlinda had six knocked down to them to a top of $2400 twice and an average of $1500, while long-term supporters Tohl Brothers, Booborowie, shopped the top end of the sale and took home four to a top of $6600 and an average of $4500.
"The Tohls have always been return buyers and have been with us for a long time so they know what the sheep do," Mr Meyer said.
Mr Miller said it was an excellent result for the Meyer family.
"It was a huge increase for last year's average with a $500 increase in sale average and we have matched that again this year with the same average in a year where we thought prices could correct a bit - it is a credit to the sheep," he said.
"A large gallery of repeat buyers were present with a couple of new ones and AuctionsPlus was good which was a new addition.
"Buyers were able to buy consistently all the way through with big carcase, heavy cutting Mulloorie sheep."
Mulloorie stud's Brinkworth sale will be conducted on September 19.
