A WARM and dry start to summer has helped pave the way for GrainCorp to record its busiest day of harvest so far.
More than 400,000 tonnes of grain made it to GrainCorp's sites across the eastern states on December 5, setting a new benchmark in the process.
The bulk of the grain came into NSW sites, with the state delivering more than 945,000 tonnes in the past week, taking the state's total for the season to more than 3.5 million tonnes.
Harvest operations are now in full swing in Victoria with the state delivering more than 849,000 tonnes in the past week, taking its overall tally to more than 1.1 million tonnes.
The passing of recent rain has helped pave the way for growers in the Wimmera and Mallee regions to gain momentum, prompting a spike in deliveries at receivals across the regions.
Deliveries still continue to trickle into GrainCorp's Queensland sites with Goondiwindi accounting for the majority of the more than 21,500 tonnes delivered into receivals in the sunshine state.
This week's deliveries bring Queensland's season total to more than 1.6 million tonnes and GrainCorp's overall total to more than 6.36 million tonnes.
