MALLEETECH was strongly supported by return clients during its Poll Merino ram sale at Geranium last week.
The Smith family offered 73 June 2020-drop rams with 30 sold to $3000, averaging $1243, with 14 buyers registered at the sale and 12 going home with rams.
The sale was conducted by Nutrien Tintinara and was also interfaced with AuctionsPlus, sparking the interest of 26 registered bidders from across SA, NSW and Vic, with three rams selling online.
Repeat Eyre Peninsula clients John and Stuart Richardson, who were unable to make the trip over from Tumby Bay, bought two rams ($2000 and $1200), while the other went to Robert Copping, Lucindale, at $1400.
The $3000 top ram was bought by return clients Glan and James Moore, Jamestown, who bought four rams in total, averaging $2333.
Malleetech stud principal David Smith said the top ram had good figure for eye muscle depth and back fat, plus a brilliant fleece.

The lot 3 ram had wool measurements of 17.6 micron, 3.7 standard deviation, 21.2 coefficient variation and 99.3 per cent comfort factor, with a Dual Purpose Plus index of 182 and clean fleece weight percentage of 127.
The ram also had Australian Sheep Breeding Values of 5.47 yearling weight, -0.52 yearling eye muscle depth, -0.44 yearling fat and yearling clean fleece weight of 39.52.
The $2000 second-highest price ram at lot 1 headed for Tumby Bay had a 17.8M fleece with 3.1SD, 17.6CV, 99CF and 89CFW, plus a DP+ index of 211.57.
The ram also had ASBVs of 14.78YWT, 1.4YEMD, 0.88Yfat and 27.35YCFWT.
The sale's biggest volume buyer came from Murrayville, Vic, with six rams to $1200, averaging $1133.
Mr Smith said he was happy with the sale.
"We would always like to sell more rams, but it was a good day," he said.
