AN auctioneer from Mount Gambier has won back to back Australian Livestock & Property Agents' Young Auctioneers titles at the Naracoorte Regional Livestock Exchange on Tuesday, after the young gun impressed judges with his voice projection and enthusiastic energy.
Elders Mount Gambier agent Ben Gregory made it the seventh consecutive year an Elders employee has taken home the top gong and competition judges said it was like "splitting hairs" to pick the winner.
An auctioneer school was held at Naracoorte on Monday to help the young competitors with their skills prior to the state competition.
The four finalists and eventual champions were selected from the school to compete the following day at the Naracoorte cattle market.
The SA YAC finalists were Elders Mount Gambier Ben Gregory, Elders Lucindale Nathan McCarthy, Nutrien Ag Solutions Bordertown Jack Guy and Nutrien Ag Solutions Kingscote Jordy Heinrich.
