SCANNED in-lamb ewes were once again in high demand at Jamestown sheep market on Thursday last week, after a run of Baderloo-bloods made $309.
The Moore family at Caltowie offered 100 hefty July/August 2019-drop ewes with an average weight of 77.5 kilograms that sold to Nutrien Ag Solutions, Melrose.
The January-shorns from AP&GA Moore were SIL to White Suffolk rams.
Buyer demand for young ewes fell away slightly during the market but Mad Rabbit Ag, Tumby Bay, made $240 for 137 Morley-bld ewes SIL to Poll Merino rams.
The September/October 2019-drops averaged 50.8kg and sold to Nutrien Ag Solutions Port Augusta.
Three-year-old ewes made to $251 for 149 SIL Pimbena-blds from Glebe Nominees & BD&DJ Bergmann, Ceduna, that sold to Nutrien Ag Solutions Gawler.
Spence Dix & Co, Jamestown, secured 132, 4yo Morley-bld SIL ewes from Mad Rabbit Ag with an average weight of 73.9kg for $246.
Older ewe prices also fell away slightly when compared with past markets, with 136 Minta-bld 5yo August/September 2015-drops, averaging 73.5kg, making $188 and sold to Spence Dix & Co Mallala.
But SIL April/May 2014-drop Gum Hill/Kelvale-bld ewes averaging 64.1kg from Sparks Farming, Spalding, sold to Auctions Plus for $210.
Ewe lambs attracted attention with JB&JM Post, Minnipa, making $214 for 152 March-shn Moorundie Park-blds with a 54.8kg average weight that sold to Elders Minlaton.
Rehn Brothers, Cowell, made $188 for 185 Glenville-bld May/June 2020 drops that sold to Spence Dix & Co, while Reid Farming Partners, Nantawarra, made $182 for 92 Nyowee-blds with a 41.8kg average weight that sold to Spence Dix & Co.
NV&EJ Byerlee, Orroroo, made the wether section top price after their 408 Calcookara-blds sold to Spence Dix & Co Mallala made $176.
The September/October 2020-drop February-shorn wethers averaged 36-57 kilograms.
AP&GA Moore, Caltowie, offered 195 July/August 2020-drop Baderloo-blds averaging between 42-52kg and made $172 that went the same way, while AM&CM Stacey, Jamestown, made $170 for 207 O'Brien Dohne-blds that also sold to Spence Dix & Co, Mallala.
The Stacey's also made $160 for a further 97 February-shorn Hamilton Run-blds that went the same way.
