THE University of South Australia and The George Alexander Foundation have announced a prestigious opportunity for regional Australia's best and brightest prospective students, with the creation of a generous scholarship fund from the Foundation.
The George Alexander Foundation UniSA Regional Scholarship Program will offer $216,000 worth of transformative gifts to students from regional and rural backgrounds with exceptional abilities who are required to relocate to pursue their dreams of a university education.
Students from regional and rural locations around the country often face additional hurdles associated with pursuing higher education, with the costs of attending university away from home and the emotional challenges that come with such a significant move.
The prestigious scholarship awards have been designed to recognise talented students that have made considerable impact in their communities already, showcasing their leadership potential, and are the embodiment of The Foundation's namesake, Mr George Alexander AM.
Each individual scholarship recipient will receive a generous $24,000 over three years that will allow them to devote further time to pursue their academic goals and personal development, all the while further preparing them to contribute in a more meaningful and significant way to the wider world.
The scholarships are available to commencing full-time students from regional Australia who are relocating to Adelaide to pursue an undergraduate program at the University of South Australia.
Applicants must have completed year 12 and obtained an ATAR of at least 80 in the two years immediately prior to commencing at UniSA.
Community involvement and leadership skills and/or potential are key components of the selection criteria and applicants should take care to address these aspects in their written statement.
