NARACOORTE
Yarding: 11,045
Ewe lambs to $202
Store lambs to $166
A run of "very good, fresh" store lambs met solid demand at Naracoorte on Thursday last week.
Pinkerton Palm Hamlyn & Steen director Richard Harvie said the bulk of the 11,000 yarding was made up of fresh store lambs and later drop second-cross lambs, selling to Wagga Wagga, NSW, Ballarat, Vic, Bendigo, Vic, and the South East.
He said the sale exceeded expectations by about $3-$5 a head with a run of 1500 shorn lambs particularly "keenly sought after".
"Any of the 45 kilogram-plus lambs made $148-160 while those over 38kg made $138-151," he said.
The store lambs reached a high of $166, paid for a pen from S&R Digiorgio & Sons, Lucindale.
Among its 939 head offering were 145 first-cross ewe lambs from a Dohne ram, which reached a top of $202.
