Widespread rain in the past week or so has given a boost to many crops across the state, but has caused hassles for those with ripe crops or hay on the ground.
The recent rainfall has given Lochiel grower Nick Ottens' crops the potential to fill properly, with harvest expected to start in late October.
"If we can get nice, plump grain with a bit of weight in it we might be pleasantly surprised by what's in the paddock," he said.
"We've had similar rain here to what we had last year so the potential's there but we won't know until we see what comes off the header."
Ian said they reapt 100 hectares of early-sown peas on Friday and Saturday last week, before rain stopped them in their tracks on Sunday. He was hoping for an extended run of clear weather to get plenty of grain in the bin.
"The forecast of La Nina and weather feeding in from the north-west is not a real good sign for us," he said.
"There's a fair bit of moisture floating about so hopefully we can get a fair run at it and get it off before it does any damage to it."
