THE Hampel family returned to Harry's Well White Suffolk stud at Caliph on Friday to again bid strongly on the top price rams
This year, CA Hampel & Partners, Nadda, went home with two at the sale's top price of $2400.
One ram at lot 5 was a July 2019-drop ram weighing 108 kilograms, with a 7.5-millimetres fat depth and 46mm eye muscle depth, while the other at lot 9 weighed 102kg with 7mm fat depth and 46.5EMD.
Overall, the stud's fifth annual on-property sale was well supported by local clients and achieved a full clearance of 150 rams for a solid average of $1167 - a $202 increase on the 2019 sale.
The rams were mainly July/August 2019-drops averaging 93kg when weighed on July 29.
Return buyers commented on the fast early growth the Harry's Well rams provided and the excellent dressing percentages received in this season.
Among the 28 registered buyers, two noticeably appreciated the quality on offer, selecting higher-value rams throughout the catalogue.
RK Jones & Co, Taplan, bought nine rams to $2300, averaging $1600, while Biele Pty Ltd bought 16 rams to $2000, averaging $1519.
Other volume buyers putting a strong base in the sale were GM&JL Obst, Wanbi, who bought 17 rams to $1400, averaging $988, and DW Obst & SD Viney, Kangaroo Island, with 10 rams to $1000, averaging $920.
Harry's Well stud principal Kenton Farr was "very happy with the sale result".
"It was pleasing to have the support of return clients, as well as several new buyers operating," he said.
Striving for continual improvement, the stud has embarked on a Lambplan program for their 2021 sale rams, to give clients additional information when selecting their rams on sale day next year.
Nutrien Livestock auctioneer Leo Redden conducted the sale on behalf of Golding Livestock, Loxton.
