Are you ready for GM consultation?

THE state's 68 local government associations have only another five months to decide if they want to push to remain free of genetically-modified crops after legislation overturning the GM moratorium was passed in parliament last month.

Nine Eyre Peninsula LGAs have already begun consultation with their residents to gauge their thoughts with a survey, available on the EP Local Government Association website, asking participants whether they support the lifting of the GM moratorium, if they would support an application to remain GM-free and if they would see a financial advantage from remaining GM-free.

LGA of SA president Sam Telfer said he expected other local councils to be conducting similar consultation to find out what their residents think.
