Woolly wethers to $173
A solid presence of processors and restockers bid actively at the annual Murray Bridge woolly wether lamb sale on Monday, with the sale topping at $173, an improvement on last year's top of $154.
Landmark Murray Bridge livestock agent Kevin Keller said lighter lambs were in demand, and sold particularly well.
"The lighter lambs are following on from the way they've been selling in the past," he said.
"There's still confidence in the sheep, even though the wool has come off a bit there's still a lot of confidence."
Elders Murray Bridge livestock manager Justin Robertson said restocker competition was strong, notably with graziers, and was across a broad region, from the South East to the Yorke Peninsula.
He said the quality of the lambs was good.
"All the lambs this year presented really fresh, they were really well doing lambs," he said.
"Last year we had a much more varied yarding."
"We only had a very small tail end run of lambs. We usually have a lot more lesser type lambs, but there was a much more uniform middle section this year," he said.
