THE Jamestown sheep market returned today, after a hiatus since April.

THE Jamestown sheep market returned today, after a hiatus since April.

About 3100 sheep were yarded, with none of the usual large pastoral lines.

The sale kicked off with a pen of 140 Sept/Oct 2018 wethers from BM&DM Andretzke, which made $116.

Younger wethers sold to $144 for DG&SG Woolford, Kimba, for 218 woolly Rices Creek-blood April/May 2019-drops.

The Woolfords also sold 230 August-shorn April/May 2016-drop ewes at $198; 95 August-shorn April/May 2015-drop ewes at $170; and 130 August-shorn April/May 2014-drop ewes at $152.

Another larger vendor was BR&NA Clapp with pens of July-shorn Glenville-blood March/April-drops, including 122 2018-drop ewes which made $181; 78 2017-drop ewes sold for $183; 40 2016-drop ewes made $170; and 29 2014-15-drop ewes sold at $142, plus 133 woolly 2019-drop wethers at $130 and a second pen of 69 at $91.

Belman Farming Trust sold 183 May-shorn June/July 2017-drop Mulloorie-blood ewes at $184; while NK&SE Foulis received $183 for 84 July-shorn March/April 2017-drop Gum Hill/Lines Hawthorne-blood ewes, which had been in with a White Suffolk ram for two weeks.

Oratunga & Partners was the only vendor to offer ewes with lambs at-foot, with the 176 October-shorn mixed age North Ashrose-bloods and 150 June/July 2019-drop lambs making $236, while a second pen of 177 drys made $185.

Crossbred lambs sold to $155 for 198 woolly April/May 2019-drop Maroola/Gum Hill-bloods, while a second pen of 41 made $136.

CS&AM Simpson sold 115 woolly April/May 2019-drop Inverbrackie/Koonawarra Border Leicester-blood crossbred lambs at $143; while KW&DA Bartlett sold 109 July-shorn March/April 2019 Merino-Suffolk crossbred lambs at $130.

The Bartletts also sold 135 March/April 2019-drop wethers at $106.
