As the 2019/20 grain harvest nudges closer, Viterra has begun its search for harvest workers.
Applications have opened and Viterra is seeking 1500 workers to fill a variety of seasonal positions.
Harvest work is available from October through to January, depending on site location and harvest conditions.
Across SA including western Victoria, jobs are available at 67 locations.
Viterra human resources director Ben Norman said a variety of positions are available to
suit a range of people and experience.
"A harvest job is a hands on role which gives people the opportunity to learn new skills, work in a team based environment, and provides a potential career path in our diverse business," he said.
"Our company provides a great avenue for young people that want to learn new skills, travellers looking to earn money while seeing the country, semi-retirees looking for something different, or those between jobs seeking short-term work."
About 40 per cent of harvest employees return for multiple harvests while some also have the opportunity to stay on with the business once harvest is complete.
"No experience is necessary. We provide all training required for the various roles which include general grain handling, bunker operations, weighbridge operations and grain classification,"Mr Norman said.
"We also provide accommodation assistance for some of our remote sites," he said.
Mr Norman also said harvest workers were crucial in ensuring Viterra delivered a smooth experience for growers at harvest.
"Viterra is focused on providing a safe and efficient grain storage and handling service to
growers and increasing our workforce during harvest helps us do this," he said.
