WHILE Anzac Day heralds the traditional start of the seeding season, farmers in most agricultural areas of the state are still waiting for the heavens to open and deliver significant rainfall.
Many large-scale operators have started seeding, while some croppers will wait for rain to increase soil moisture levels.
Landmark Wudinna sales agronomy manager Leigh Davis expected canola areas to be reduced across the Upper Eyre Peninsula in an effort to cut risk, although The Agronomist Pty Ltd owner Jeff Braun said farmers in the Mid North were more likely to stick with the oilseed.
