With qualifications as a diesel mechanic, Power Equipment's newest national sales manager, Dean Whitford knows the power products inside and out.
Previously employed by for Isuzu for 16 years, Mr Whitford began his career in parts sales before working as a sales manager and in the industrial engine division.
Mr Whitford said his 10 years spent in charge of the industrial engine division had taught him great deal about customer requirements and expectations.
"One of the greatest things I gained from my time as a diesel mechanic was how things work and why sometimes they don't. I can visualise that and what the customer is trying to do with the product," he said.
"It is all about trying to understand the application and what they are trying to achieve. An engine is only part of the solution. It is always driving something else and that is what the customer is trying to achieve. The engine is just one part in that chain."
Mr Whitford said he has no immediate plans to make changes to the power products division.
"Long-term, the aim is to improve what we are doing. Making continuous improvement is a must. It is all about looking for those opportunities to make life easier for people who work here and for our customers."
