RAA government and public policy general manager Jayne Flaherty said greater funding for existing schemes such as the Black Spot program were important but investment for key transport routes was necessary for improved road safety, increased productivity and future proof key corridors for subsequent generations.
"Last week RAA called for duplication of the Dukes and Augusta highways, as well as the inclusion of Riddoch Highway on the National Highway Network, as key priorities for the upcoming federal budget and the next federal government,'' she said.
"Our request is for significant investment to tackle the most pressing issues in the state's road network, and we are calling for the major parties to deliver these priorities which will greatly enhance South Australia's transport network for all road users.''
Ms Flaherty also welcomed the government's announcement to create a national Office of Road Safety.
"Establishing the office is one of the 12 recommendation made by the 2018 inquiry into the safety strategy, which RAA has been advocating for,'' she said.
