POTATOES SA's annual dinner raised more than $45,000 for the Little Heroes Foundation on Friday night.
Elders SA stud stock manager Tony Wetherall auctioned off a box of new-season baby potatoes, with the winning bid of $13,000 coming from Thomas Foods International Fresh Produce chief executive officer Rod Knight, which was a new record for the auction.
But it did not end there.
Zerella Fresh general manager Paul White approached the stage and spoke passionately about a young girl who was supported by the Little Heroes Foundation and passed away recently.
Mr White matched TFI’s bid, along with the Mitolo Group, leading an astounding $39,000 to be raised.
In addition to the box of baby potatoes, two iron sculptures of a dog and a pear were auctioned off providing an additional $6000 for the foundation.
Another fundraiser was lucky square draws on the tables, with the prizes the table’s iron sculpture apple and pear centrepieces.
This all led to more than $45,000 being raised for the Little Heroes Foundation.
