THE final Murray Bridge prime lamb sale of the season ended on a good note, with crossbred lambs selling to $167, compared to last year’s final sale, which topped at $148.
There were about 3500 lambs yarded today.
Topping the sale with 50 crossbreds at $167 was Richard Howard, Annerley Proips, Geranium, with his lambs sold to Thomas Foods International. TFI also bought a further 101 lambs at $152 and 26 at $148 from Annerley Props, as well as 32 at $155 from LL Schubert, Bletchley, and 64 at $145 from Narilla Pty Ltd, Milang.
Also selling near the top of the sale were Robert Thiele, Monarto South, with 32 at $152, as well 27 at $126, and Hansen Farms, Coomandook, with 153 at $142, as well as 19 at $128.
JBS bought 129 lambs at $140 from Andrew Thomas, Thom Farms, Moorlands.
Offering strong support throughout the selling season was Nampara.
Lines knocked down to Nampara at today’s sale included 59 at $138 from CL Hutton, Strathalbyn, 92 at $139 from Woodland Hills, Port Elliot and 45 at $140 from MJ Dunn, Milang.
There were also 125 at $138 from A Smith, Brinkley, 122 at $137 from GR&CA Johnson, Peake, and 36 at $134 from C&J Sparks, Jabuk, all sold to Nampara
Other lines knocked down to Nampara included 40 at $136 from RM&TE Hein, Pompoota, 35 at $139 from BJ&CJ Borrett, Langhorne Creek, 27 at $133 from TR&NJ Kennett, Brinkley, and 119 at $126 from Nalpa, Wellington.
Also offering strong support through the season was Elders Bordertown, buying a number of lines including 72 at $133 from A Smith, 21 at $120 from CL Hutton and 36 at $132 from Thom Farms.
Elders Bordertown also bought 106 lambs at $137 and 557 at $125 from Handley Pastoral, Field, and 185 at $114 from Sonntag Bros, Mannum.
Selling wether lambs were DW&BJ Frahn, Mypolonga, with 256 Kelvale-bloods at $99, sold to Elders Bordertown.
Landmark agent Kev Keller said he was pleased with how this season’s sale went, especially considering the seasonal conditions.
“There was really good buying support from processors and restockers throughout our sales, which was very much appreciated,” he said.
The next Murray Bridge sale is a ewe and lamb auction on Monday, October 8.
