GEORGE the Farmer was created in regional South Australia to educate children about farming practices while explaining how food and natural fabrics are produced through fun picture books, songs, videos, apps and performance.
The creators, Simone Kain and Ben Hood, have won numerous awards for George and the George the Farmer app regularly features in the iTunes top 10 educational apps for Australia and New Zealand in the Technologies section.
George the Farmer has received top reviews, was featured on ABC Landline and has received national media coverage on radio and in print.
He has a rapidly-growing social media presence which currently sits at about 40,000 Facebook fans, gaining up to 200 fans per week.
He is also on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.
George’s down-to-earth manner and grassroots charm has universal appeal, and while he is resonating extremely well with young children in rural locations, he is also inspiring city-based children to have a better understanding and connection to agriculture, which is imperative for an equitable and sustainable food supply chain in our future.
