ROEMAHKITA Poll Merino stud at Cummins had a great result yesterday, with a $7000 top and $2452 average achieved at the Dahlitz family's 28th annual ram auction.
The average price was very close to last year’s record of $2525, while the top was $1200 up on last year.
A healthy average of 96 per cent was also achieved, with 89 rams sold out of 93 offered.
Buying the top price $7000 ram was regular clients CD Watson & Co, Tooligie, who have been buying from Roemahkita for more than 20 years.
The ram weighed 110.5 kilograms with eye muscle depth of 40.5 millimetres and fat score of 7.7mm.
Its fleece was 18.5 micron, with 2.6 standard deviation, 14.1 coefficient of variation and 99.8 per cent comfort factor.
Aaron Watson said the ram stood out for its crimpy, white, long-stapled wool.
“It also stands correctly and is a good all-rounder,” he said.
Volume buyers were Brad Claughton, Claughton Family Trust, Yallunda Flat, who bought nine rams for an average of $2255 and brothers Roger and Graham Baines, Karkoo, who also purchased nine rams, for an average of $2911.
