THE first ever Texas Longhorn cattle sale was held at the Naracoorte Regional Livestock Exchange yesterday, topping at $1300.
The auction was run jointly by Ray White Keatley and Thomas DeGaris & Clarkson.
Ray White Keatley principal Dale Keatley said all the 59 lots offered were sold.
“The top price of $1300 was made by a cow and calf,” he said.
“Most cows sold from $500 to $1000.
“Young Texas Longhorn cattle, aged three-months-old to 4mo, made between $400-$500.”
Mr Keatley said the sale drew an enormous crowd from a wide-ranging area.
“We had people from Broken Hill, NSW, the Adelaide Hills, the South East and western Vic,” he said.
“It was a genuine dispersal sale, with the cattle selling on their merits to a huge gallery.”
