AGRICULTURE students are looking to share insights into the future of the industry as the Growing the Future event returns for the third year.
An initiative of the Adelaide University Agriculture Students Association, Growing the Future was first developed in 2016 to create more opportunities and networking aimed at young people in agriculture, particularly in SA.
Held in the Ian McLachlan Room at the Adelaide Oval, the August 2 event sees the focus shift to the needs and challenges of the Australian agricultural sector, and what it seeks from graduates.
AUASA secretary Rebekah Starick said that industry feedback has enabled the event to keep growing.
“This event offers many opportunities for young people either looking at a career in the sector or already involved, by connecting them with people already within the sector and exposing them to the challenges and opportunities they may face in their careers,” she said.
“We are encouraging everyone from students with an interest in agriculture at high school or university through to young people working in the sector to attend.
“One of the best known facts about agriculture is the importance of networking and meeting other people from within the industry to share information and opportunities with one another.”
This year the event will include a report on the findings of two AgCollab sessions held prior to the dinner.
Other people from the agriculture sector are invited to attend to share their experiences and meet some of the next generation coming up.
Tickets for the event are available at the newly launched Growing the Future website with tickets just $42 for students, which includes a three-course meal and drinks package.
