THERE will be plenty happening on wheels and on horseback in Marree the June long weekend with the annual Gymkhana and Motorkhana being held.
There will be a full two days of events for adults and children, with the horse action on Saturday, June 9, and the motorbikes on Sunday, June 10, with a $15,000 prize pool as well as the Xtreme Trials Shows.
The freestyle motorcycle entertainmen will put on three high-energy action performances throughout the gymkhana events on Saturday, including vertical jumps up a 10 foot wall, drop-offs, wheelies, and freestyle tricks.
There is also a twilight auction on the Saturday evening with items such as a handmade barbecue smoker, a cattle trough and a happy hour at the bar to be bid on.
Live entertainment will be at the Marree Hotel on Friday, and the Marree School will host their fundraiser with a band on the Saturday night.
Getting the weekend underway on Friday, June 8 will be a Natural Resources SA Arid Lands community field day at the racecourse, giving locals and visitors the chance to see demonstrations from services like JSL Drones and Catagra Group Ultra Scan Tech.
Feature events for competitors will again this year include the Murnpeowie Station Open Barrel Race and the Clayton Station Rescue Race for horse enthusiasts, and the Oasis Cafe Single Bike Relay for the rev heads.
Always worth hanging around for, the Landmark Round the Track Mono Comp will round out the events on Sunday afternoon.
