The second day of the second week of weaner sales at Wodonga saw another offering of Hereford, Hereford cross and Euro mixed-sex weaners for discerning buyers.
Yesterday’s sale conducted by Corcoran Parker, Wodonga saw values for quality stock remain consistent with recent trends, with demand for better animals putting a solid floor in the market.
With 3000 head advertised, the sale commenced at 10.30am.
Featured advertised lines included 120 Angus/Shorhorn/Hereford heifers, 10 months account GL Prichard Nominees, Castle Creek, Victoria and 130 Black baldy steers account JE and PC MacLeod, “Wallangra Park”, Jingellic.
Other impressive offerings advertised include 75 Hereford and Hereford/Shorthorn steers account “Booroola”, Avenel, Victora and 55 Angus Composite/Angus Simmental steers account Glencoe Pastoral, Holbrook.
Wodonga agents, BUR, Paull and Scollard, Peter Ruaro Rodwells and Schubert Boers conducted the sale.
Unexpected good result for steers
Commencing on a reasonable to good quality offering of yearling steers, which were included in the offering of 3774 head, saw strong feedlot competition set a good trend for the day at the Northern Victoria Livestock Exchange.
Teys Australia, purchased numerous pens, and at least three other companies opened their books.
GL Prichard Nominees, Castle Creek, sold 25 Angus-Hereford steers, 14-16 months, for $1460, and many other pens, from numerous vendors, sold upward from $1260.
