It was a family affair for the Willis family of Table Top near Albury when they topped Corcoran and Parker’s annual premier Angus sale at the Barnawartha selling complex near Wodonga today (Wednesday).
Although the bulk of the 2763 cattle sold were weaners, Tim Willis, “Pelican Point”, Table Top topped the sale from the small offering of grown steers and heifers.
The cattle were bred by his uncle, Noel Willis, at “Willhaven”, Table Top which he subsequently sold to his nephew.
An eye-catching pen of nineteen 16-month-old Ardrossan blood steers, weighing an average 533kg, topped the sale at $1490.
Another pen of 20 lighter steers fetched $1280.

The Willis draft of 13 head of 16-month-old heifers, weighing an average 482kg, also created plenty of buyer interest, fetching $1250 a head.
Tim Willis described the price of the heifers as “not bad” but wondered if he shouldn’t have kept them for breeding.
Mr Willis also runs Poll Merinos (soon to be joined to White Suffolk rams) and operates a welding and shed building business.
