The South East community of Avenue Range is brimming with festive cheer, with many residents putting hours of work and country ingenuity into their Christmas gate displays.

A tyre snowman, Santa on a trampoline and a giant hay bale Christmas tree are among the displays which have popped up on the roadsides.
On Monday night, the Oliver family won the popular vote with their letterboxes transformed into a reindeer and sleigh, plus Santa playing golf on a large square hay bale (pictured).

Their prize – apart from bragging rights – is for perpetual trophy Priscilla the metal pig to be pride of place at the corner of Avenue and Carrachers Road in 2017.
Coordinator Nick Edwards says the competition, which has been running for six years, brings the local community together and is a bit of fun.
“It is judged on creativity and novelty value, not necessarily being the biggest,” he said.
