A day full of highlights and confidence in the future of the Brahman breed and imported genetics set the scene at the NCC sale on Tuesday.
A total of 78 bulls grossed $1,235,000, averaging $15,833 with a 100 percent clearance.
Females met very strong competition with 22 females achieving a gross $299,500 to average $13,614 and a 100 per cent clearance.
Top price bull of the day, NCC Randolph (IVF) by JDH Sir Stratton Manson 823/4 (IMP US) went to Owen, Lee & Clay Scott for $90,000.
The 2016 World Brahman Congress Calf Champion had developed even further since his win earlier in the year displaying tremendous thickness through the topline and hindquarter.
Owen Scott said he purchased Randolph as he believed he was a bull that “would put the thickness and bone into upgrading his existing herd.”
Their new purchase will be used over their existing Brahman breeders to breed bulls for themselves on their properties in the Moranbah district.
The Scott family generally fatten their bullocks on their properties on buffel or utilise the live export market depending upon the season and market trends.
Meanwhile, the top female NCC Wise Power 3467 (P) (IVF) found a new home at AJ and Pam Davison’s Viva Brahmans for $28,000.
The extremely soft feminine heifer out of the high profile Three D Platinum (P) sire will be used in a breeding program with the Davison’s 2016 Ekka Interbreed Champion, Viva Mario.
The highlights continued through the sale with many buyers focussed on genetics of JDH Mr Elmo Manso (IMP US) and JDH Sir Stratton Manson 823/4 (IMP US) to add to their breeding programs.
Ron and Daphne Kirk, Yenda Brahmans took home two bulls on the day including the second top price in NCC Jackaroo (IVF) for $65,000 and NCC Lord Dudley 3164 (IVF) by JDH Sir STratton Manson 823/4 (IMP US) selling to $45,000.
Third top price bull was purchased by the syndicate of Stewart & Sarah Borg, Leichhardt Brahmans, Sarina with Stewart’s uncle and aunt, John and Julie Borg, Harrybrandt Grazing, Nebo. This eye catching future sire with tremendous temperament and sire appeal met strong competition going under the hammer for $60,000.
Heifers were in very strong demand with the second top price of $27,000 being reached twice with Nev and Megan Hansen, Oaklands Brangus purchasing NCC Lady Dianna 3430 (IVF) and Scott Curran and family, Riverleigh Pastoral, securing NCC Selinda 3406 (IVF).
Lady Dianna being a daughter of Stratton & Selinda sired by Elmo.

Brett Nobbs, NCC commented: “It was a terrific day, I was a little nervous this morning with expectations for the day, but this afternoon I’m ecstatic”.
“It’s a tremendous result for the Brahman breed and an endorsement of what Brahmans can do for the beef industry in Australia. I’m very excited about the future of the brahman breed - it’s exciting times.
When asked about the impact Elmo genetics had on the day and in the Brahman breed Mr Nobbs commented: “Elmo’s legacy is that he will leave softness and deep sided fleshy carcases on cattle and docility which is a huge trait with him.
“He’s so docile. When we started to first use Elmo we were blown away with his calves. He hasn’t let us down in any department.”
