Around 2000 patrons turned out in the sunshine for the show which featured lawn mower races, yard dog trials, tractor and lawn mower pulling as well as pavilion and trade exhibits and side shows.
Member for Barker Tony Pasin opened the event and said Keith was gaining a reputation for having one of the best shows in the South East. A special presentation was made to immediate past president Glen Simpson (2009 – 2016) for his dedication to get the show back on its feet after many years of it being poorly attended. He has also overseen many infrastructure projects. The aim of the show committee is to have a major all-purpose facility for the whole community.
Celebrity chef Simon Bryant from the ABC TV’s The Cook and the Chef had a capacity crowd at two cooking demonstrations teaching the audience about cooking with lentils and pulses. It is the International Year of the Pulse and Mr Bryant was very impressed with the feature exhibit put together by Robynne and Steven Jaeschke.
The junior judging section continues to grow and this year 13 young contestants judged British Breed ewes, Merino rams and beef cattle.
The day was capped off with a great fireworks display but due to the wet grounds the horses in action section was rescheduled until February.
