Forty five of 47 well-presented rams offered by Stephen, Kathy and Samantha Kelly from Binnum at their second on-property sale found homes for a $1224 average.
This included the $3000 sale-topper heading to WA.
The May 2015-drop ram caught the eye of Debbie Pyle, Glendale stud, Takalarup, at the Royal Adelaide Show. She bid over the phone through Landmark Naracoorte’s David Heinrich.
The AI-bred ram was a son of Rannoch 54/11 and had great length of body and hindquarters.
It had a Carcase Plus index of 191 and had been part of Zacman’s third prize pair in the Lambplan production export class at Adelaide.
Zacman’s show team performed well throughout the season, raising the young stud’s profile.
Anthony and Nathan Geue, Vanita, Kingston SE, were also stud buyers with two rams at $1600 and $1700.
Steve DiGiorgio, S&R DiGiorgio & Sons, Lucindale, contributed strongly to the sale’s success with 15 rams averaging $1184.
Other major buyers included Simon Bird, Frances, with six rams averaging $1367 and Yoho, Frances, bought five averaging $1240.

Samantha Kelly was thrilled to see many repeat buyers return.
“We are looking to breed high yielding rams with quite a bit of meat and length but also get our indexes up using high figured rams like Aberdeen 16/12 we have used this year,” she said.
Landmark auctioneer Richard Miller described it as a “very successful” sale.
“It was good to see so many loyal, repeat clients here and a few new ones,” he said.
“They are big, meaty, high performing sheep that do under all conditions.”
