The minimum trade applies to all makes and models, providing the quad is over 225cc and in reasonable running order.
Polaris offers 23 models with ROPS which has been a key driver in the market shift from quads towards side by sides and ROPS certified models.
The company has grown its year-to-date Ranger side by side sales by 20 per cent and Ace sales by 18pc.
Polaris says it is making it easier and more affordable for consumers to upgrade their old quad bike for a current model equipped with the latest features and safety technology.
Polaris, which supports other key manufacturer’s position disapproving of the fitment of Crush Protection Devices (CPDs) to quads, says the trade-in offer will make the exit from a quad bike more affordable for Victorian farmers and provide an engineered ROPS alternative as opposed to what they say is “the fitment of contentious and unproven crush protection contraptions to ATVs as now required by WorkSafe Victoria.”
Polaris said Victorian and New South Wales farmers may also have financial support available to move from a quad to a Polaris Ranger, with a rebate proposed for a range initiatives including moving from ATVs to side by sides.
While there has been no announcement of a rebate in Victoria, the NSW rebate is expected to begin later this month.
Polaris offers 23 models with ROPS and other safety technology.
Many models offer three-point seat-belts with an interlock device that limits speed when the seat belt is unsecured, a SpeedKey speed limiting device, and an engine braking system with four-wheel descent control.
Seating configurations start with the single-seat Ace which is rated to carry 261 kilograms and has a towing capacity 680kg.
The Ace provides a compact and narrow footprint like a quad, for maneuverability but also features ROPS and car like controls.
The Ranger series of side by side utility vehicles provides models with seating from two to six seats, in petrol, diesel and electric drive and in two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive plus un-locking rear diffs for turf friendly performance.
The minimum trade-in offer remains in place until the end of September 2016.
